Most new cases continue to be from Maharashtra
BENGALURU:
With 135 new Covid-19 cases and three deaths reported on Wednesday, Karnataka’s tally is now 2,418, including 47 deaths and 781 discharges.
Of the 3 deaths, one was a 69-year-old woman from Yadgiri district and a returnee from Maharashtra, who was brought dead to the designated hospital on May 20. Her report came positive later.
The second was a 49-year-old man from Bidar, suffering from SARI and diabetes mellitus.
The third was an 82-year-old man from Vijayapura, who was a contact of a positive patient. He was admitted with complaints of fever, cough, breathlessness and chest pain, and died on May 26.
Of the 135 new cases, 114 are returnees from Maharashtra, three from Tamil Nadu, and one each from Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala and Delhi. Two are returnees from the UAE and Nepal. Ten cases are contacts of earlier cases, while Haveri and Davanagere districts have one each.
Kalaburagi reported 28 new cases,Yadgiri 16, Hassan 15, Bidar 14, Dakshina Kannada 11 and Udupi 9. There were 6 each from Bengaluru Urban and Davanagere, 5 each from Uttara Kannada and Raichur, 4 each from Belagavi and Chikkaballapur, 3 each from Chikkamagalur and Vijayapura, 2 from Bengaluru Rural and one each from Ballari, Mandya, Kolar and Tumakur.
Bengaluru Urban leads with 282 cases, followed by Mandya with 255 and Kalaburagi with 185. Among discharges, Bengaluru Urban has reported 151, followed by Belagavi with 89 and Mysuru with 88.
Of the 1,588 active cases, 1,574 are at designated hospitals while 14 are in ICUs.
Karnataka tested 12,690 samples on Wednesday and will have 60 labs by the end of the month, Covid-19 spokesperson Suresh Kumar told the media.Â
A total of 2,41,608 samples have been tested so far and 2,35,876 samples have come negative.
