Home Minister and Medical Education Minister do recce of KIA preparations

The first flight which was scheduled to arrive on May 8, bringing back Kannadigas stranded abroad, has been rescheduled. The state government has announced that the new dates will be announced shortly as new guidelines have been issued by the Union government.
It is expected that the flight will now arrive at the KIA on May 11.
On Thursday, Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai and Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar inspected the improved screening facilities at the airport.
Dr. Sudhakar instructed the airport officials to strictly adhere to protocol while screening the passengers. As per the Centre’s guidelines, passengers will undergo screening at two stages and they will be sent home only after confirming that they are not infected.
He said arrangements had been made to quarantine the incoming passengers in hotels, hostels and school buildings. Local residents need not panic as adequate precautionary measures had been taken, he added.
At a meeting of the Covid task force on Thursday, the Chief Minister had laid stress on the precautionary measures to be taken in advance of the overseas arrivals, he said.
