Belagavi/Bengaluru: Forest, Ecology and Environment Minister Eshwar B. Khandre administered the oath of integrity and professional commitment to 21 newly recruited Assistant Conservators of Forests (ACFs) who completed their training through the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC). The ceremony was held at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi.
Addressing the officers, the Minister reminded them that very few graduates get the opportunity to serve the government, and those selected must uphold the highest standards of honesty and responsibility. Candidates from agricultural sciences, engineering, and forestry backgrounds were among those inducted.
Khandre stressed that the world is facing critical challenges such as global warming and climate change, making forest protection more crucial than ever. He urged the new ACFs to ensure strict enforcement of the Forest Conservation Act, 1963, Forest Conservation Act, 1980, and the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. “You must act decisively against encroachments and protect forest resources without yielding to any pressure,” he said.
Calling the Forest Department one of the most important wings of governance, the Minister said the officers now have the opportunity to protect nature, biodiversity, wildlife, bird species, and insect ecosystems. He encouraged them to work towards reducing human–wildlife conflict and safeguarding Karnataka’s green cover.
The newly inducted ACFs took an oath to protect trees, support afforestation, and carry out their duties with sincerity and integrity.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Meenakshi Negi, Additional Chief Secretaries Manoj Kumar and Srinivasulu, Chief Conservator of Forests Manjunath Chouhan, and Deputy Conservator of Forests Kranti were present.
