Bengaluru: Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao has directed officials in the BBMP East Zone to immediately issue a circular making installation of separate wet and dry waste bins mandatory in buildings with more than three floors.
Speaking at a public grievance meeting held in the East Zone, Rao said the move is essential to streamline waste segregation and tackle mounting garbage issues. He instructed health officials to serve notices to all eligible buildings after the circular is issued, mandating compliance within their premises.
Borewell Road Development Push
The Chief Commissioner also directed officials to take possession of reserved abandoned properties earmarked for Borewell Road widening and begin development works. Authorities have been instructed to conduct site inspections and initiate necessary action.
Footpath Repairs & Encroachment Removal in KR Puram
Reviewing civic infrastructure in the KR Puram Assembly constituency, Rao ordered officials to prepare a phased list of roads requiring footpath repairs and new construction. He also directed immediate removal of footpath encroachments in AECS Layout.
Micro Plan to Tackle Garbage Dumping
Citizens raised concerns over roadside dumping and garbage accumulation in vacant sites, along with irregular door-to-door collection. Responding to complaints, Rao instructed officials to identify problem areas and prepare a micro-level waste management plan to resolve the issue systematically.
150 Grievances Submitted
Around 150 citizens participated in the grievance redressal meeting and submitted complaints directly to the Chief Commissioner. Officials present were instructed to initiate immediate action.

- Issues related to name change errors in e-Khata records.
- Alleged commercial activities in residential areas of Pattandur Agrahara (ECC Road).
- Installation of proper signboards around Pattandur Agrahara.
- Shortage of doctors at Ramamurthy Nagar Government Hospital.
- Completion of stalled drainage work on Hoodi Road–Sadaramangala Road stretch.
- Removal of wall obstructing traffic in Sai Garden Layout.
- Action against unauthorized PG constructions in residential areas.
- Sewage inflow into Boganahalli Lake.
East Zone Commissioner D.S. Ramesh, Additional Commissioner (Development) Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar, Additional Commissioner (Revenue) Prajna Amembal, Joint Commissioners Dr. Dakshayini K and Dr. Sudha, Chief Engineers Lokesh and Krishnamurthy, along with officials from Revenue, Health, Engineering, Solid Waste Management, and Town Planning departments were present at the meeting.
