
Karnataka’s Covid caseload has now gone past 90K
BENGALURU:
For the third consecutive day, Karnataka has reported more than 5,000 Covid positive cases. Saturday also saw 72 deaths statewide, with Bengaluru accounting for 30. The state’s death toll now stands at 1,804.
With the day’s fresh cases, the state’s caseload has now gone past the 90K mark. As per the bulletin released by the health department, Karnataka now has 90,942 positive cases of which 55,388 are active cases.

Saturday’s 5,072 cases broke the July 23 ‘record’ of 5,030 cases. July 24 had reported 5,007 while July 22 had seen 4,764 fresh cases.
On a slightly more positive note, the recovery rate was relatively better on Saturday with 2,403 people being discharged from hospitals. That brings the tally of cured persons to 33,750. Of the 55,388 active cases, 611 are in critical condition and are being treated in ICUs, according to the department bulletin.

The day saw 2,036 cases detected in Bengaluru, making for a total caseload of 43,503.

The break-up of the days’ cases for the other districts is: 341 in Belagavi, 222 in Ballari, 218 in Dakshina Kannada, 187 in Mysuru, 183 in Kalaburagi and Dharwad, 60 in Mandya, 52 in Haveri, 52 in Shivamogga, 42 in Chikkamagalur, 31 in Koppal, 27 in Tumkur, 22 in Chamarajanagar, 20 in Ramanagaram, 16 in Chitradurga and 9 in Kodagu.
A total of 11,256 rapid antigen tests were conducted on Saturday in the state. The health department has said that 11.43 lakh people have been tested so far.
