BELAGAVI:
Kannada and Culture Minisiter V Sunil Kumar on Monday said that the ruling BJP government will not only introduce the proposed anti-conversion bill, but also a separate bill for love jihad.
“When we said we would bring the anti-cattle slaughter bill, we brought it. When we are saying we will bring the anti-conversion law, we are firm in our stand. There is no doubt about it. I would like to go one step further and say we will bring a bill against love jihad too,” he told reporters hours before the commencement of the winter session of Karnataka assembly here at Suvarna Soudha.
Coming down heavily upon some Christian organizations for opposing the proposed anti-conversion bill, Kumar asked them why they are against the bill when they are claiming they are not involved in forcible conversion.
“As far as BJP is concerned, it is not having confusion like some Christian organizations are having. On the one hand they say they are not involved in forcible conversion and on the other hand, they are opposing the bill. Why? We are firm in introducing the bill,” he said.
Kumar further said many political and religious leaders including Swami Vivekananda and Mahatma Gandhi were against conversion and it is being done through inducement in a very systematic way. Under these circumstances, it is very necessary to bring the anti-conversion bill, he said.
The minister also said the BJP government is ready to give reply to the opposition including Congress on the proposed bill in the assembly.
Replying to a query, Kumar said the bill is not against one particular community but it is for the good of the society.
