Bengaluru: In a shocking incident reported from Heelalige village under Surya Nagar police station limits in Anekal taluk, a 31-year-old man allegedly killed his wife following a domestic dispute and later died by suicide. The incident came to light two days after the deaths.
The deceased have been identified as Deepant Sabar (31) and his wife Manjula Sabar (27), natives of Odisha. The couple had been staying in a rented house for the past 20 days and were employed at a private company in Bommasandra.
Police suspect that an argument between the couple escalated, following which Deepant allegedly murdered his wife in a fit of rage. He is then believed to have recorded a video of himself crying in front of his wife’s body before hanging himself inside the house.
A death note written in Odia was also recovered from the scene during the investigation, police sources said.
The matter came to light when the house owner, Shivakumar, who had rented the house to the couple about 20 days ago, was alerted after his mother, Choudamma, noticed the woman’s body lying on the cot on Thursday night. She immediately informed Surya Nagar police.
When police broke open the door and entered the house, they found the husband’s body as well. Officials suspect that the incident may have occurred nearly two days earlier, as the bodies were found in a decomposed state.
The bodies were shifted to a government hospital for post-mortem examination and later handed over to the family members.
DySP Mallesh Gowda and Inspector Sanjeev Mahajan visited the spot and conducted an inspection. Surya Nagar police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
The tragic incident has once again highlighted the fatal consequences of domestic disputes escalating beyond control.
