Try lower officials first before seeing me, Gupta advises citizens
BENGALURU:
Soon after taking charge as BBMP administrator on Friday morning, senior IAS officer Gaurav Gupta said he would hold discussions with the Chief Secretary and elected representatives before taking a decision on revisions to the current civic budget.
Speaking to TheBengaluruLive, he said the civic body should have a ‘realistic’ budget. “I will check the status of the budget — which works have been started and which are yet to be started. I will hold discussions with politicians and check the requirements and necessity of the work before taking a decision,” he said.

Gupta said, “I am aware of BBMP’s situation and I will review the financial condition, as well as projects which are underway and or yet to be started. Later I will hold discussions with Chief Secretary TM Vijay Bhaskar, who has vast experience in civic administration, as in 2015 he was the civic administrator. His experience will be vital to handle the situation.”
‘Citizens should connect with lower-rank officials’
Gupta said, “In the civic body we need to connect directly with citizens and lower-rank officials should be available in the office to solve public issues. We will strengthen the online system of grievance redressal.”
He said that people can meet him directly in his office when he is available, “but I would request people to meet lower- rank officers before trying to reach me, as BBMP has a vast administrative set-up which can handle issues.”
