BENGALURU:
While the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike’s (BBMP) Election discussion was underway, the Congress led Karnataka government has reconvened a committee of experts related to the restructuring of the BBMP.

The earlier committee led by former Chief Secretary BS Patil, former BBMP and BDA Commissioner Siddaiah and Urban Expert V Ravichandar has been given a larger mandate to reimagine Bengaluru governance and administration, covering not only the BBMP but all related departments and parastatals, like the Urban Development Department, the BDA, the BWSSB, the BMRDA, the DULT, the BMLTA, the city police, the Fire and Emergency Services, the Slum Board, etc., and corporations like the BMTC, Bescom, BMRCL, and Suburban Rail.
The same members had recommended splitting the BBMP into multiple corporations with 400 wards.
