Bengaluru: The Congress has registered an emphatic victory in the Bengaluru District Central Cooperative Bank (BDCC Bank) elections, securing 15 out of 18 seats, senior Congress leader and BAMUL president DK Suresh announced on Sunday.
Addressing reporters at the BDCC Bank premises in Chamarajpet, Suresh said the victory reflects the strong organisational leadership of Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who steered the Congress-backed panel in the cooperative polls.
“Of the 18 constituencies that went to polls today, Congress-supported candidates have won 15 seats outright,” he said.
Detailing the results, he added:
- Bengaluru South District: Congress won in Ramanagara (2 seats), Channapatna (1), Kanakapura (2) and Magadi (2) constituencies.
- Bengaluru North District: Congress-backed candidates secured victories in Hoskote (2), Devanahalli (1), Doddaballapura (1), Anekal (1) and one additional seat with the support of HM Revanna.
- BJP-backed candidates won two seats in Nelamangala and Solur, with Congress extending strategic support in these segments.
Suresh also acknowledged the role of leaders such as ministers Ramalinga Reddy, KH Muniyappa, Krishna Byre Gowda, and MLAs Shivanna, Sharath Bachegowda, Iqbal Hussain, Balakrishna, CP Yogeshwar, Srinivas, and senior leaders RK Ramesh and Venkataramanappa in ensuring a coordinated campaign.
He expressed gratitude to cooperative members, party leaders, and even defeated candidates for their efforts.
BDCC Bank: A Historic Institution
Highlighting the institution’s importance, Suresh noted that the BDCC Bank—covering 36 Assembly constituencies across Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, and Ramanagara—has long been a key cooperative financial institution.
“The bank has seen many ups and downs but is currently functioning with strong administrative performance,” he said.
He assured that the newly elected board will prioritise services for farmers and urban citizens who depend on the bank for financial support.
