Mysuru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has cautioned citizens to remain vigilant against the RSS and Sangh Parivar, stating that they had opposed Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Constitution in the past and continue to do so even today.
Speaking after inaugurating the Silver Jubilee celebrations and the new ‘Jnana Darshana’ building at the University of Mysore, Siddaramaiah praised Ambedkar as a great reformer who used his knowledge for social transformation.
“Ambedkar was a visionary who acquired knowledge not for personal gain but for uplifting society. He studied deeply to understand social realities and used his intellect for the betterment of the oppressed,” the Chief Minister said.
Siddaramaiah accused the BJP and RSS of distorting Ambedkar’s legacy for political gain. “They spread false propaganda that Congress defeated Ambedkar in elections. But the truth is, Ambedkar himself wrote in his own handwriting — ‘I was defeated by Savarkar and Dange.’ Such truths must be brought before society to expose the lies of the Sangh Parivar,” he urged.

‘Ambedkar Is His Own Equal’
The Chief Minister said he established the Ambedkar School of Economics so that those who study Ambedkar may follow his ideals. “Ambedkar stands alone; no one can match him. But we can honour him by walking in his path and practicing his principles,” he said.
He added that Ambedkar studied all major constitutions of the world and crafted India’s supreme Constitution, which remains a model of democracy and equality.
Commenting on recent developments, Siddaramaiah condemned the act of a so-called Sanatani throwing a shoe at the Chief Justice of India, calling it proof that caste and orthodoxy still persist in society. “This act should be condemned not just by Dalits, but by everyone who believes in equality,” he said.
Call for Rational Thought and Social Awareness
Reiterating his belief in the teachings of Buddha, Basavanna, and Ambedkar, Siddaramaiah urged people to promote rationality and scientific thinking. “Don’t practice superstition after studying science. Let your association be with those who stand for social justice, not with those who oppose it,” he appealed.
The Chief Minister also lauded the establishment of the ‘Vishwa Jnani Ambedkar Sabha Bhavana’ at Mysore University, marking 25 years of the Ambedkar Study Centre, calling it a symbol of continued progress in Ambedkarite thought.
