Single-point helpline will make life easier for citizens in distress

Unable to remember various zonal control room numbers of BBMP? Now, the civic agency has made life easier for complainants by setting up a single number covering the entire city. Bengalureans can now call helpline number 1533 for assistance on Covid-19 as well as other issues.
For Covid-related information, the caller has to press ‘1’ while it is ‘2’ for any other BBMP- related issues. There will be pre-recorded information in Kannada and English.
Previously, one had to call 1912 (which belonged to Bescom) for assistance/complaints/information on Covid-19 and 9480685700/080-22660000 for BBMP-related information/complaints.

“To simplify the process further, a single helpline 1533 has been introduced for both Covid and BBMP-related grievances. Upon calling 1533, the caller can select ‘1’ for Covid-related assistance and ‘2’ for non-Covid BBMP grievances,” explained an officer.
How and what
1533 followed by ‘1” provides the following assistance:
• Vaccination and testing centre information.
• Bed blocking requests.
• Details of Covid Care Centres and physical triage centres.
• Quarantine and home isolation information.
• Details of BBMP Primary Health Centres.
• Information on ambulance/hearse services.
Each caller will get a ticket number. Every call will be recorded to include the reason for the call, the time of the call, and if the issue has been resolved. The ticket number will be disabled once the problem is resolved.
