BENGALURU: After 26 long years, the accused in a notorious robbery case has finally been apprehended by the Jayanagar police station in Bengaluru. Gulab Khan, now 50 years old, was arrested in Ramnagar, putting an end to his decades-long evasion of justice.
The incident dates back to 20th January 1998, when a 24-year-old Gulab Khan brazenly snatched a precious necklace from a woman named Vasant in Jayanagar 5th Block. Despite the best efforts of the police, he managed to slip away, leaving no trace behind. Remarkably, this audacious act turned out to be his only brush with criminality, as he settled in Ramnagar and found work as a welder.
As the years passed, the case grew cold, and the police were on the verge of closing it due to the inability to locate the elusive culprit. However, the tenacious investigators at the Jayanagar police station, determined to bring closure to unsolved cases, embarked on a final pursuit of Gulab Khan. Their relentless efforts paid off when they discovered that he had been residing in Ramanagara all along. Swiftly, they apprehended him, breathing new life into the dormant investigation.
The police have now reopened the case, eager to uncover any new evidence that may shed light on the events of that fateful day. Gulab Khan, having been produced before the court, awaits his fate as justice takes its course once again.
