Bengaluru: A BMTC bus traveling from Majestic to Kadugodi was completely gutted in a fire near HAL Gate early Friday morning. Thanks to the quick response of the driver and conductor, all 75 passengers on board were evacuated safely, averting a major tragedy.
The incident occurred around 5:15 am, when smoke was first noticed in the bus engine near the gear lever. Alert to the danger, the driver immediately halted the bus and, along with the conductor, opened both doors to ensure passengers could quickly disembark.
Eyewitnesses said the bus had left Majestic depot around 4:15 am and had reached the HAL area when the smoke began rising from the engine. Within minutes, flames engulfed the vehicle.
