
Bengaluru: After The Bengaluru Live‘s report highlighted that he was inspecting city roads on a two-wheeler while wearing a non-ISI branded helmet, Bengaluru Central City Corporation Commissioner Rajendra Cholan corrected himself the very next day. On his subsequent inspection, the Commissioner was seen wearing a proper ISI-certified helmet, setting an example for citizens on road safety compliance.
Continuing his focus on civic accountability, Commissioner Cholan conducted a detailed inspection of arterial and sub-arterial roads in Chamarajpet division on a two-wheeler. He directed officials to take immediate measures to ensure pothole-free roads and better civic upkeep in the area.
Key directions issued during the inspection included:
- Repair of the damaged Sultan Road bus stop, with immediate restoration of pedestrian pathways and improved cleanliness.
- Completion of pending white-topping work near Sultan Palya at the earliest.
- Launch of intensive cleanliness drives in Chamarajpet, Binnypet, Mysuru Road, and 2nd Main Road, New Tharagupet.
- Clearing of construction debris at Sirsi Circle Junction without delay.
- Cleaning and beautification of vacant land near the stormwater drain at APMC Yard and Binnymill Road.
- Rectification of potholes left during white-topping at 3rd Cross, Chamarajpet, with costs to be borne by the contractor.
- Removal of all black spots in Chamarajpet limits and preventive steps against recurrence.
Chief Engineer Vijay Kumar Haridas, the Superintendent Engineer, Executive Engineers, and other civic officials accompanied the Commissioner during the inspection.
With this proactive inspection, Commissioner Cholan not only reinforced his commitment to road safety and civic accountability but also sent out a message that officials too must lead by example.
