Bengaluru: As part of preparatory work for the Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls–2026, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed the mapping of the 2002 electoral roll with the current 2025 voter list, Bengaluru District Deputy Chief Electoral Officer and District Commissioner G. Jagadeesha said.
The voter list mapping exercise will be carried out across seven Assembly constituencies under the Bengaluru Urban district—Yelahanka (150), Byatarayanapura (152), Yeshwanthpur (153), Dasarahalli (155), Mahadevapura (174), Bengaluru South (176), and Anekal (177).
As part of the process, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door visits to verify voters whose names in the 2002 list do not match with the 2025 electoral roll. Necessary details will be collected directly from voters to complete the mapping exercise.
In accordance with the ECI directive dated December 15, 2025, BLOs have also been instructed to identify and rectify issues such as blurred or unclear photographs, incorrect names, gender details, or address errors in the voter list.
Following further instructions issued on January 13, 2026, the Election Commission has extended this corrective process by three weeks. During this period, BLOs will visit voters’ residences to facilitate corrections either through the BLO App or by collecting Form-8 applications from voters.
Appealing to citizens across the seven constituencies, District Commissioner G. Jagadeesha urged voters to cooperate fully by providing accurate information when BLOs visit their homes, emphasizing that public participation is crucial to ensuring an accurate and error-free electoral roll.
Voters can also independently correct discrepancies by submitting Form-8 online through the National Voters’ Service Portal (NVSP) at https://voters.eci.gov.in/
Additionally, the NVSP portal offers a “Book a Call with BLO” feature, allowing voters to directly address grievances related to voter registration and electoral roll details.
The district administration has reiterated that the initiative aims to strengthen electoral integrity and ensure free, fair, and transparent elections ahead of the 2026 revision.
