Bengaluru: City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh has ordered the suspension of DJ Halli Police Station Inspector Sunil following a sexual assault allegation filed against him. The action comes after a formal complaint was lodged by a 36-year-old woman, accusing the officer of sexually assaulting her under the pretext of marriage.
According to reports, the woman approached the Director General of Police’s office and filed a detailed complaint against Inspector Sunil. Based on her allegations, a case was registered against both the inspector and an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) attached to the same station.
Confirming the development, Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said, “A case has been registered against the DJ Halli Inspector and an ASI. Both officers have been placed under suspension pending investigation.”
The internal inquiry and criminal investigation are now underway to determine the authenticity of the allegations and the possible misuse of position by the accused officers.
The suspension has stirred strong reactions within the police department, highlighting concerns about discipline, accountability, and women’s safety in law enforcement institutions.
