Bengaluru: In a shocking development that has rocked the city’s law enforcement, 11 police personnel, including a Chamarajpet Police Inspector, have been suspended for alleged links with drug peddlers. The suspended officials are accused of colluding with peddlers involved in the sale of Tydol 100 tablets, a controlled substance often abused by students.
According to the investigation, seven officers from Chamarajpet Police Station, including Inspector T. Manjanna, and four staff members from JJ Nagar Police Station were found to be in close contact with drug traffickers. Officials revealed that these police personnel not only communicated with peddlers but also allegedly received monetary benefits.

The case came to light after the arrest of six peddlers in RR Nagar Police Station limits on August 22, including Salman, Niyazulla, Niyaz Khan, and Tahir Patel. Police seized nearly 1,000 Tydol 100 tablets during the operation. Mobile phone records of the accused revealed frequent contact with police officers, including financial transactions and audio messages that raised serious concerns about collusion.
Departmental sources confirmed that disciplinary action was taken immediately, and all 11 officers were suspended. “If protectors of society turn supporters of drug gangs, it raises alarming questions about law enforcement credibility,” a senior officer remarked.

Preliminary findings suggest that the suspended officers may have not only shielded peddlers but also facilitated the illicit sale of drugs in Bengaluru.
This incident has sparked public outrage, with citizens questioning how those tasked with protecting youth from drug abuse could themselves be complicit. Activists warn that unless strong corrective action is taken, the drug menace in Bengaluru could worsen, endangering the city’s young population.
