Bengaluru: The Bengaluru East Corporation has reclaimed encroached land at Chikkabellandur Lake in Mahadevapura after carrying out a clearance drive. The lake, located in Survey No. 9 of Chikkabellandur village, spans 67 acres and 14 guntas, of which about 3 guntas had been encroached by private parties.
According to revenue department records, the encroached portion was officially identified and marked on the survey maps, which were handed over to the corporation. Despite earlier notices and orders to vacate the illegal occupation, the encroachers had failed to comply, prompting today’s eviction action.
Following directions from Commissioner D.S. Ramesh and Additional Commissioner (Development) Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar, the operation was led by the Chief Engineer, Mahadevapura Zone-1. The encroached 3 guntas were successfully cleared and reclaimed, with fencing work currently underway to secure the recovered land, officials confirmed.
