Bengaluru: Daily commuters on the Namma Metro Yellow Line (RV Road–Bommasandra stretch) have a reason to cheer. From Friday morning, a fourth train has been added to the route, reducing the waiting time between trains from 25 minutes to 19 minutes.
Until now, only three trains operated on this busy 19.15 km corridor, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 10 and opened to the public on August 11. With the fourth train joining the fleet, passenger load is expected to ease, especially during peak hours.
High Demand Corridor
The RV Road–Bommasandra line, which covers 16 metro stations, serves thousands of daily commuters, including lakhs of IT/BT professionals working in Electronic City and surrounding areas. Passengers had long complained that the 25-minute frequency was inconvenient compared to the 4–7 minute frequency on the Green and Purple Lines.

Passenger Voices
Commuters expressed happiness over the deployment of the additional train. “Usually we had to wait 25 minutes. Now it’s 19 minutes, and this saves us time during peak rush hours. If more trains are added, it will be a huge help,” one passenger said.
Another commuter noted the time savings: “Earlier, it took nearly two hours by road from Chandapura to Majestic. With the Metro, it takes just 45–60 minutes. More trains will encourage people to shift from cars and buses, reducing traffic and pollution.”
Future Expectations
Commuters have urged BMRCL to further increase the number of trains on this corridor. They hope frequencies will eventually match the 4–5 minute intervals seen on other Metro lines, making the Yellow Line more reliable for the growing IT workforce.
