Bengaluru: Amid the growing popularity of rave parties on the outskirts of Bengaluru, the police have issued a stern warning to resort, farmhouse, homestay, and hotel owners, following repeated reports of drug usage during such events.
These parties—often hosted as birthday celebrations, engagements, or weddings—have become a hub for alleged illegal activities, including drug consumption. In response, the Northeast Division of the Bengaluru Police has initiated a crackdown to curb this menace.
During a high-level meeting held at Chikkajala Police Station, Northeast DCP issued strict instructions to all property owners who rent out their venues for private events. “If any illegal activity, especially drug-related, is found during these parties, the owners will be held directly accountable and criminal cases will be filed,” police warned.

Owners have been directed to secure necessary permissions and NOCs from the Tourism Department, local civic bodies (including Gram Panchayats, Town Municipalities, and City Councils), and the local police station. In addition, all guest details must be submitted to the local police on a daily basis, especially during weekends and holidays.
The DCP emphasized that homestay operators must be registered with the Tourism Department and follow due protocol. Failure to comply will lead to legal consequences, including action under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Despite repeated police raids and seizures in the past, drug supply chains continue to operate at some party venues. The department is now intensifying surveillance and coordination to enforce a zero-tolerance policy toward drug abuse at private gatherings.
The move signals a tough stance from the Bengaluru Police, who are determined to clamp down on illegal rave culture flourishing in the city’s peripheries.
