Bengaluru: A chilling crime has rocked Bengaluru’s Whitefield, where a 24-year-old woman staying in a co-living PG accommodation was allegedly sexually harassed, blackmailed, and later stabbed by a fellow resident.
According to the police complaint, the accused, identified as Babu, an engineer and a married man with a child, befriended the woman as both were staying in the same PG. Over the past few months, Babu allegedly began demanding sexual favors and even threatened the woman using her private photographs.

Three days ago, he reportedly tried to sexually assault the victim. When she refused, he allegedly stabbed her with a knife. Police say the accused had also demanded ₹70,000 from the victim, blackmailing her with personal photos. When she explained she had no money, he forced her to transfer ₹14,000 via UPI.
On the night of September 16, around 3 am, the accused again confronted the woman, leading to a violent altercation in which she was stabbed. She is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bengaluru, while her condition is said to be stable.
The Whitefield Police registered an FIR under charges of sexual harassment, extortion, criminal intimidation, and attempted murder. The accused Babu has since been arrested.
Speaking on the case, Joint Commissioner of Police (East) Ramesh Banoth confirmed that the attack took place inside the PG accommodation and that the victim, an employee of a private bank, had lodged a detailed complaint.
Police officials have also collected CCTV footage and digital evidence, including the alleged UPI transaction, as part of their investigation.
