Bengaluru: In a swift, movie-style operation, Bengaluru police arrested eight members of a notorious gang who had been targeting businessmen and entrepreneurs for high-value robberies. The gang was caught red-handed while attempting to loot a couple who had arrived to pay money for a land deal in Akshaya Nagar, Hulimavu police limits.

The couple, identified as Motaram and his wife, had come with a bag containing ₹1.01 crore in cash to hand over to a man named Hemant near DLF Circle. Just as they opened their car’s boot to take out the money, two bike-borne miscreants threatened them. Within moments, four to five more men on motorcycles joined, surrounding the car and snatching the bag of cash.

Hemant quickly alerted the Hulimavu police, who were patrolling nearby. Acting immediately, officers pursued the gang. According to DCP (Electronic City) M. Narayan, “When our teams rushed to the spot, we found two cars, several bikes, and about eight people in a deserted area. On seeing the police, they panicked and tried to escape, but our personnel chased and nabbed them.”

The entire operation lasted less than two hours, during which all eight accused were apprehended and the stolen ₹1.01 crore cash recovered. Police said if they had arrived a few minutes later, the money would have been gone. The accused are now under interrogation to verify their criminal history and identify possible links to other robberies across Bengaluru.
