
BENGALURU: Om Prakash, a retired Police Director General and a 68-year-old IPS officer from the 1981 batch, was tragically found murdered in his home in HSR Layout, Bengaluru.
Prakash had served as the state’s 38th DG and IGP. His body has been taken to St. John’s Hospital for a post-mortem examination, with senior police officials swiftly responding to the scene.

According to sources, Prakash’s wife, Pallavi, contacted the local police to report the murder. Pallavi and her daughter opened the door for the officers upon their arrival.
The exact reason for the murder is still under investigation by the authorities.

Vikash Kumar, Additional Police Commissioner (West), informed the media that they received information around 4:30 PM. Subsequently, the 112 Hoyasala team arrived at the scene after his son filed a complaint. An FIR will be filed, and the case will be thoroughly investigated.
The incident involved a physical assault and the use of a weapon, details of which will only be revealed once the FIR is officially registered. No suspects have been identified or arrested at this time. The building where Om Prakash was residing has been secured by law enforcement.
