Bengaluru: Violating one-way traffic rules is not just illegal but also a major risk to road safety, warns the Bengaluru City Traffic Police. According to officials, nearly 1.74 lakh cases of one-way rule violations have already been registered in 2025, each of which could have resulted in a potential accident.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Karthik Reddy, explained that obeying one-way rules can reduce accidents, ease traffic congestion, and save commuters’ valuable time. Conversely, driving against the flow in a one-way street increases the chances of head-on collisions, traffic jams, and serious accidents.
Strict Action Against Violators
Reddy stressed that strict enforcement is underway and penalties will be made even tougher in the coming days to deter repeat offenders. “Every violation has the potential to cause tragedy. We urge citizens to follow traffic rules, respect one-way routes, and drive responsibly,” he said.
Appeal to Citizens
The Bengaluru Traffic Police have appealed to all motorists to adopt discipline on roads, emphasizing that compliance ensures not just individual safety but also the safety of every commuter in the city.
