Bengaluru: The Bengaluru West City Corporation Commissioner, Dr. Rajendra K.V., has directed officials to ensure pothole-free roads, improved civic works, and enhanced cleanliness across the division. Chairing a review meeting with engineers and department heads, the commissioner stressed strict monitoring of ongoing projects and immediate redressal of public grievances.
- Pothole Repairs: All arterial, sub-arterial, high-density corridors, and ward-level roads must be repaired on priority, ensuring pothole-free streets across West Bengaluru.
- Coordination with Traffic Police: Officials were told to coordinate with traffic police to identify damaged stretches and execute repairs swiftly.
- Accountability: Assistant Engineers (AE) and Junior Engineers (JE) must personally inspect worksites, and photographs of potholes—before repair, during work, and after completion—must be recorded for accountability.
- Cleanliness & Waste Removal: Ward-level cleanliness should be maintained, with strict action against dumping of debris and construction waste on road margins.
- Directory of Officials: A contact directory of all responsible officers is to be compiled for faster coordination.
During his field visits, the commissioner inspected multiple civic facilities and projects:
- Mathikere Ward: At Netaji Circle’s muster centre, he verified the attendance of pourakarmikas (civic workers) and directed strict adherence to duty hours. He also urged residents to support efforts in eliminating black spots by reporting offenders who dump garbage on roadsides.
- Debris Removal: Instructions were issued to clear waste and construction debris from road edges immediately.
- Footpath Repair: On Mathikere 1st B Main Road, he inspected the pedestrian pathways and ordered urgent repairs to ensure safe and convenient access for walkers.
- Atal Ji Park (Ward 45): The commissioner reviewed civic amenities at the park and instructed that damaged gym equipment be restored at the earliest for public use.
Deputy Commissioner (Development) Digvijay Bodke, Joint Commissioners Arathi Anand and Sangappa, Chief Engineers Rajesh and Swayamprabha, Health Officer Manohar Hegde, and several executive engineers were present during the meeting and inspections.
