Bhadramma, a resident of Kooguru village in Anekal taluk was murdered and her body was dumped in Dodda Thimmasandra Lake.
Bengaluru : A shocking murder case has emerged from Bengaluru’s outskirts, where a 38-year-old woman allegedly killed an elderly neighbour for her gold jewellery and later dumped the body in a lake to destroy evidence.
The accused, identified as Deepa, a resident of Kooguru village in Anekal taluk, was arrested by the Sarjapur Police following an intensive investigation.
Murder for Greed: Elderly Woman Lured and Killed
According to police, the incident occurred on October 30 at Kooguru village.
The victim, identified as Bhadramma, was reportedly lured to Deepa’s house under the pretext of being served kajjaya (a traditional sweet). Once inside, Deepa allegedly strangled the elderly woman to death and looted her gold ornaments.

Instead of immediately disposing of the body, the accused allegedly kept the corpse inside her house for two days.
As the stench began spreading in the neighbourhood, Deepa transported the body in a car and dumped it into Dodda Thimmasandra Lake, police said.
Body Found in Lake, Police Crack the Case
The partially decomposed body of Bhadramma was recovered from the Dodda Thimmasandra Lake, triggering a murder probe.
Sarjapur Police registered a case and began investigations, which soon led them to the accused.
During interrogation, Deepa confessed to killing Bhadramma for gold jewellery, police sources confirmed.
“The accused has admitted that greed for gold ornaments motivated the murder. We are investigating whether anyone else was involved or if she acted alone,” said a police officer.
Investigation Underway
Police are now verifying whether Deepa had planned the murder in advance or if it was a crime of opportunity.
The looted jewellery and other evidence are being traced. Officials are also examining whether the accused had any prior criminal record.
The accused has been remanded to police custody for further interrogation.
