Active containment zones have zoomed recently to 5,598
BENGALURU:
The Covid situation in Bengaluru is getting worse by the day. According to data from BBMP’s Covid war room, 2,146 areas have been added in recent days to the list of containment zones, pushing up the total number of these zones to 5,598.
As per the war room bulletin on Thursday night, the positivity rate has risen from 7.70% to 12.37% while the active rate has gone from 88% to 74%.
BBMP, which aims to conduct 10,000 tests daily in the city, conducted 4,396 tests on July 15. Till date, it has conducted 1,85,441 tests.
In the last 24 hours, Shantala Nagar in the East zone has recorded over 139 positive cases, alarming residents of the upscale area in Bengaluru.
The wards that have reported 15 or more cases within the last 24 hours include Hemmigepura, Basavanagudi, Agrahara, Dasarahalli, Rajaji Nagar, Pulikeshinagar, Konena Agrahara, Jayanagar, Uttarahalli, Koramangala, Chamrajapet, BTM Layout, Pattabhiram Nagar, Vasanth Nagar, Madivala, Kempegowda Ward, HBR Layout, Govindaraja Nagar, Suddagunte Palya, Yediyur,
Byatarayanapura.
Containment Zones
The number of active containment zones as on July 15 is: Yelahanka 245, Bengaluru East 955, Bengaluru South 2,045, Mahadevaura 378, Bengaluru West 762, Bommanahali 698, RR Nagara 413 and Dasarahalli 102.
