Bengaluru, February 27: The 5th State Finance Commission (SFC), Karnataka, has formally submitted its report relating to the City Corporations under the Greater Bengaluru Authority Area for the period 2026–2030, outlining financial recommendations for urban governance and fiscal devolution.
The report was first presented to the Governor of Karnataka and the Chief Minister of Karnataka on February 26, 2026. Subsequently, it was submitted to the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka on February 27, 2026.
The submission was led by Commission Chairman Dr. C. Narayanaswamy, accompanied by members Mohamed Sanaulla, R.S. Phonde, and Secretary Vasireddi Vijaya Jyothsna.
The Finance Commission’s recommendations are expected to play a crucial role in shaping fiscal transfers, revenue-sharing mechanisms, and grant allocations for Bengaluru’s city corporations over the next five-year cycle.
The 5th SFC report comes at a critical juncture as Greater Bengaluru continues to expand administratively and economically, requiring structured financial planning to strengthen urban infrastructure, service delivery, and municipal governance.
Further details of the recommendations are expected to be examined by the State Government before implementation.
