BJP Turmoil Deepens: Rebel Leaders Fly to Delhi Again Seeking BY Vijayendra’s Removal

BJP Turmoil Deepens: Rebel Leaders Fly to Delhi Again Seeking BY Vijayendra’s Removal

Bengaluru: At a time when the Congress government in Karnataka is battling its own internal tensions, the BJP — instead of capitalising on the situation as the principal opposition — has once again slipped into a fresh round of internal rebellion.

A group of BJP rebel leaders has reportedly flown to Delhi, renewing pressure on the party high command to remove state BJP president B.Y. Vijayendra. The faction, led by senior leader Ramesh Jarkiholi, is said to be regrouping and pushing for a leadership overhaul, signalling that the internal rift is far from settled.

Rebel Camp Re-Energised

Sources indicate that the rebel group’s objective is twofold:

  1. Demand Vijayendra’s removal as Karnataka BJP president
  2. Send a strong message to the party high command about dissatisfaction within the state unit

The camp, which had earlier raised objections during organisational appointments, appears to be active again, in what insiders describe as an attempt to force the central leadership to intervene.

Congress Gains as BJP Clashes Within

Political observers point out that at a time when the Congress is facing a wave of leadership speculation and factional unease, the BJP should have been “politically aggressive and united.”

Instead, the party finds itself busy “plugging its own leaks” and managing dissent.

Analysts say the BJP’s constant internal infighting — particularly the repeated anti-Vijayendra lobby — has weakened its ability to function as a strong opposition.

High Command Intervention Uncertain

The central leadership has not yet stepped in decisively to resolve the recurring rebellion. Party insiders worry that this hesitation could embolden dissidents and further intensify the crisis.

Political circles are now closely watching whether the BJP high command will:

  • Replace Vijayendra
  • Negotiate a truce
  • Ignore the rebellion and risk another escalation

Either way, a fresh political drama seems to be unfolding — this time inside the BJP, even as the Congress navigates its own challenges.
