Bengaluru: In a significant show of unity, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar held a private breakfast meeting at the CM’s residence on Tuesday, breakfast meeting, Congress leadership, Karnataka politics, DK Shivakumar, Siddaramaiah.
Speaking after the interaction, the Chief Minister said the meeting was informal and focused purely on strengthening coordination within the party. “Breakfast was good. All three of us sat together and shared the meal. There was no political discussion during breakfast; we simply ate together,” he clarified.
According to him, the meeting was arranged on the direction of AICC observer Venugopal, who had recently called both leaders separately and advised them to hold a courtesy breakfast meeting to reduce unnecessary speculation within the party, AICC leadership, Congress high command, political coordination.
The Chief Minister added that he personally invited DK Shivakumar home after Venugopal’s call. “He asked me to host the breakfast. So I arranged it at my residence. I also told him that we will meet again over lunch on another day,” Siddaramaiah said.

He emphasised that the primary purpose of Tuesday’s meeting was to clear misunderstandings that had emerged over the past month. “Certain avoidable confusions had developed recently. So we decided to sit together and talk directly,” he noted, party unity, Congress strategy, coalition dynamics.
The leaders also discussed preparations for the December 28 local body elections, including municipal corporation polls, taluk panchayat elections, zilla panchayat polls and gram panchayat elections, local body elections, Karnataka municipal polls, Congress election strategy.
“Our focus is to ensure Congress returns to power in all these key elections. Strengthening coordination between leaders is essential,” Siddaramaiah added.
