BENGALURU: For the first time in the country, the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) is proud to announce the launch of an innovative project – Sanchari Cauvery – Cauvery on Wheels. This groundbreaking initiative, under the direction of the Honorable Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, aims to provide a solution to the rising prices of private water tankers.
Sanchari Cauvery offers a unique service of delivering water directly to your doorstep through Cauvery Water on Wheels. Tanker owners interested in leasing their tankers to the water board can now register directly on our platforms. Priority will be given to applicants who have applied for a Cauvery connection and are currently undergoing connection work in 110 villages.
Chairman of the Bangalore Water Board, Dr. Ram Prasath Manohar, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, emphasizing the importance of providing clean drinking water during times of water scarcity. With the onset of summer, groundwater levels decrease, leading to water shortages and increased rates from private tankers. In response to this issue, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar instructed the development of a new scheme, resulting in the creation of Sanchari Cauvery – Cauvery on Wheels.
The project aims to deliver BIS certified pure water directly from Cauvery Connect Centres to customers’ doorsteps. Through our user-friendly app and website, customers can easily book the amount of water they need and make payments online. This innovative project sets a new standard in water supply services, setting BWSSB apart as a leader in the industry.
This new initiative, unlike any other undertaken by water boards nationwide, aims to provide a reliable and efficient system for delivering water to those in need. The project is designed to address various issues such as the quality of water supplied by private tankers, discrepancies in tanker sizes, and price fluctuations during periods of high demand.
Dr. Ram Prasat Manohar, in a statement, announced that the service allowing the public to book tankers will soon be launched by the Honorable Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. The project will prioritize 110 villages and applicants who have applied for a Cauvery connection. Dr. Manohar emphasized that those within these villages who have applied for a Cauvery connection and are currently undergoing the connection process will receive priority assistance.
Furthermore, the project offers an opportunity for private tanker owners to register on the mobile Cauvery platform. This initiative comes in response to reports of increased tanker rates in certain areas of the city and a lack of demand in others. The Bangalore Water Board aims to utilize the ample water resources available to provide a reliable water supply to residents of the 110 villages. Private tanker owners interested in renting out their tankers to the water board can register on the platform by April 10.
Tanker registration is available on the website https://bwssb.karnataka.gov.in/. For further details, interested parties can contact Chief Engineer (Quality & Design Assurance) Sanath Kumar V at +91 99018 88338.
