The Union government has taken steps to bring back Indian nationals stranded overseas, among them 10,823 people from Karnataka. Of these, 6,100 will return in the first phase.
Announcing this at a presser on Wednesday, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Suresh Kumar said that of the 10,823 people, 4,408 were travellers, 3,074 students, 2,784 career seekers, and 557 naval officers.
All of them will be subjected to quarantine in government institutions. “After 28 days of quarantine, we will send them back to their homes,” said Suresh Kumar.
