Bengaluru: Real estate businessman and Chairman of Confident Group, CJ Roy, died after sustaining a gunshot injury in an incident reported within the limits of Ashok Nagar Police Station on Friday.
Confirming the development, , Bengaluru City Police Commissioner, said that “as of now, it is a case of self-shooting.”
Addressing the media, the Police Commissioner stated that the incident occurred earlier in the day and that CJ Roy was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

“The Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO), Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, and other investigating officers are examining all aspects of the case,” Singh said, adding that a detailed enquiry is currently underway.
The Police Commissioner further confirmed that Income Tax Department searches had been conducted at the premises over the past two to three days, and similar searches had also taken place earlier. However, he clarified that police are yet to receive complete details regarding those proceedings.

“There was a team from Kerala involved in the searches. We do not have all details at this stage. We will find out more and inform you,” Singh said.
Police are also in contact with CJ Roy’s family members, who are currently outside India. “The family is travelling to India today. We are coordinating with them,” the Police Commissioner added.
Officials reiterated that the investigation is at a preliminary stage, and further clarity on the circumstances surrounding the incident will emerge after completion of forensic examination, scene analysis, and procedural formalities.
