BENGALURU:
Chief minister B S Yediyurappa has criticised the unruly behaviour of the Congress members in the Karnataka Legislative Council, in which the Deputy Chairman was physically assaulted and removed from the Chair in the floor of the House on Tuesday.
Speaking to newsmen here, he said that “the unprecedented behaviour of the Congress members in the upper house has exhibited the true character of the Congress members”.

Never in the history of the Indian Legislature, Deputy Chairman of an honorable House had been physically removed from the Chair, unconstitutionally, he said.
Stating that it was very much crystal clear that the Chairman of the House, had lost majority in the house, after the JD(S) members had also signed a no-confidence motion, he said that “In such circumstances the Congress leaders should have directed the Chairman to step down from the post”.
He said that both the BJP and the JD(S) members will meet Governor Vajubhai Wala and petition against the chairman and also Congress members on the issue.
It may be recalled that in an unprecedented incident, the house had witnessed a chaotic situation in which the Congress members had physically lifted-off the Deputy Chairman, Dharmegowda, who was in the Chair to make way for the incumbent Chairman Pratapchandra Shetty, today.
The BJP members, earlier had tried to block the entry of the Chairman into the house by locking the Chairman’s entrance into the House, which had also ignited to erupt chaotic situation in the house.
The Chairman, Pratapchandra Shetty, who was helped by the Congress members to occupy his seat, had adourned the house sine die amidst the shouts from the ruling BJP and the JD(S) members. (UNI)
