Bengaluru: In a sharp political attack, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday accused the BJP of not just spreading lies but also institutionalising voter fraud across India.
He alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had “destroyed the sanctity of constitutional institutions” and turned them into subordinates of the central government, including the Election Commission and CBI.
“Modi Has Eroded the Constitution’s Spirit”
Addressing a joint press conference at the KPCC office in Bengaluru, Siddaramaiah said the Congress had compiled documentary evidence of systematic voter manipulation and electoral malpractice in several states, including Karnataka.
“After Modi became Prime Minister, all constitutional institutions have lost their independence and integrity. The Election Commission, CBI and other agencies are no longer autonomous — they have become subservient to the central government,” Siddaramaiah said.
“The BJP is not only a party of lies — it is also a party of voter fraud. They have perfected the art of stealing elections through deception,” he declared.
Rahul Gandhi Exposed the Fraud with Evidence
Siddaramaiah said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, after months of analysis and field verification, had exposed evidence of widespread voter manipulation — especially in Bengaluru Central Lok Sabha constituency, where Congress claims to have found major irregularities.
“Rahul Gandhi has placed before the nation detailed records proving how BJP came to power through organised voter fraud in multiple Assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies,” the CM said.
“To grab power unconstitutionally is not just an act of corruption — it is treason against democracy.”
He expressed frustration that the Election Commission has failed to respond to Congress’ repeated questions and the documented evidence submitted publicly.
“Election Commission Has Become Modi’s Subordinate”
Citing Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s vision of an independent Election Commission, Siddaramaiah said the BJP government had betrayed that constitutional trust.
“Ambedkar made it clear that executive interference in the electoral process destroys democracy. Modi has done exactly that — by converting the Election Commission into a tool of his government,” he said.
“Free and fair elections are the backbone of democracy. Every political party must protect that principle, not destroy it.”
He added that Congress would continue its nationwide campaign to safeguard democracy and the Constitution, led by Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge.
Over One Crore Signatures Collected in Karnataka
Reiterating Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar’s earlier statement, Siddaramaiah said the Congress in Karnataka had collected over 1.12 crore signatures as part of its “Save Democracy, Protect Constitution” campaign.
“More than one crore people in Karnataka have signed petitions demanding protection of voting rights and action against election irregularities,” he said.
“We will submit these signatures to the Election Commission of India and to the President of India.”
“We Will Continue This Fight to Protect Democracy”
The Chief Minister vowed that the Congress would not stop until India restores full electoral integrity.
“We will wage a sustained movement to defend democracy and constitutional values. This is not just Congress’ fight — it is a people’s fight,” Siddaramaiah said.
“When constitutional institutions surrender to political power, it becomes the duty of citizens to resist.”
Senior leaders including Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar, Minister Satish Jarkiholi, Working Presidents G.C. Chandrashekhar and Saleem Ahmed, and Youth Congress President Manjunath were present during the press meet.

The Karnataka Congress has escalated its campaign against what it calls “systematic voter theft” under the Modi government.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s remarks underline growing tensions between the ruling Congress in Karnataka and the BJP-led Centre — with the Election Commission now at the centre of a political storm over alleged voter deletions, fake entries, and manipulation of electoral rolls.
