Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has directed strict action against white-topping contractors and engineers after finding potholes on stretches recently developed under the project on Hennur-Bagalur Road.
Officials informed the CM that once a road is handed over for white-topping, the responsibility for its upkeep rests solely with the contractor, as civic funds are not released for maintenance during the two to three years until the work is completed. Despite this mandate, contractors have allegedly failed to maintain the roads properly.
Expressing strong displeasure, Siddaramaiah instructed that accountability be fixed and action taken against both contractors and engineers who have shown negligence in ensuring proper upkeep of white-topping roads.
