Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has issued a directive mandating the use of eco-friendly materials and KMF’s ‘Nandini’ products at all government offices, meetings, and official programmes across the state.
The instruction follows a note issued by the Chief Minister on October 28, 2025, aimed at strengthening environmentally sustainable practices in government functioning. As per the directive, plastic drinking water bottles are to be avoided at all official events and replaced with environment-friendly alternatives.
In addition, all meetings, conferences, and official programmes organised by the Karnataka government have been instructed to use food products supplied by the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) under the ‘Nandini’ brand.

The order has been issued with the approval of the competent authority, and departments have been asked to strictly implement the directive in the interest of environmental protection and promotion of state-owned enterprises.
The circular has been signed by Sandeep B.K., Under Secretary to Government, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR).
Officials said the move aligns with the state’s broader commitment to sustainable governance, reduction of plastic waste, and support for Karnataka-based cooperative institutions.
