Bengaluru: Following Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s inspection of the Hennur–Bagalur Road, Bengaluru East Corporation Commissioner D.S. Ramesh directed officials to complete the ongoing white topping project by the end of October.
At a review meeting held today, the commissioner instructed that the 5 km stretch from Geddalahalli railway line to Farhan College, covering both sides of the road (10 km total), must be completed without delay. Contractors were warned of strict penalties if deadlines were missed, and all potholes along the stretch are to be filled within two days. Certificates confirming the completion of these works must be submitted by executive engineers.
Ramesh stressed that delays caused by agencies like KPTCL, BESCOM, BWSSB, or traffic police should be resolved immediately through better coordination. He ordered that the 8-meter-wide carriageway, pedestrian pathways, ducts, and utility works along the Hennur–Bagalur corridor be finished and opened to traffic by October-end.
On the Suranjan Das–Varthur High Density Corridor project, the commissioner noted that while 8 km of the 12 km road has been completed, the pending 4 km remains delayed due to BWSSB works at Hope Farm and waterlogging issues at Siddapura junction. He instructed immediate measures to address these problems.
To prevent freshly completed roads from being damaged, Ramesh ordered that no agency may dig up roads without prior permission from the Bengaluru East Corporation. Approval will only be given after placing a repair deposit. Ward engineers and assistant engineers will be held directly accountable. Patrol vehicles will be deployed to monitor road conditions and prevent debris dumping.
The commissioner further instructed that the pending asphalting, footpaths, side drains, and electric pole installations along the Suranjan Das–Varthur stretch must be completed within one month. Additionally, the 2 km Hoodi Junction–Pattandur stretch of the High Density Corridor must be finished within 15 days in coordination with KPTCL.
The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar, Chief Engineer Krishnamurthy, executive engineers, and other senior officials.
