Congress Government in Karnataka on the Verge of Collapse, Claims Kumaraswamy
HASSAN/BENGALURU:
H.D. Kumaraswamy, leader of the JD(S), made a bold statement on Sunday, suggesting that a prominent minister from the ruling Congress party in Karnataka may defect to the BJP. According to Kumaraswamy, this minister is desperate to evade the charges filed against him by the Centre and is currently in negotiations with the BJP leadership.
During a press conference, Kumaraswamy expressed his concerns about the stability of the Congress government, stating, “All is not well within the Congress government. I am uncertain about its longevity. There is an influential minister who is eager to escape the legal consequences he is facing.” Kumaraswamy further emphasized that the Centre has filed cases against this minister, leaving him with no viable options.
When pressed to reveal the identity of the minister, Kumaraswamy responded, “Such audacious acts are not expected from ordinary leaders. Only influential figures are capable of such actions.”
The state president of the JD(S) went on to predict that a situation similar to what occurred in Maharashtra could unfold in Karnataka at any moment. “Given the current political climate, anything is possible,” he cautioned.
Kumaraswamy concluded his statement by highlighting the unfortunate reality of politicians prioritizing personal convenience over their professed ideologies, stating, “Ideologies often take a backseat as politicians switch sides for their own convenience.”
