Bengaluru: AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal on Thursday downplayed speculation around Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s claim of completing a full five-year term, stressing that the Congress high command alone has the authority to decide on leadership matters in Karnataka.
Addressing reporters, Venugopal remarked, “Every time I visit Karnataka, the same question is raised. The Congress party has the strength and authority to take decisions on its internal matters. That responsibility rests with us. At the right time, if necessary, the party will take a suitable decision.”
The remarks come amid renewed debate within Congress circles on the issue of power sharing between Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar, despite repeated denials of any rift by both leaders.
