BENGALURU:
The Bengaluru City Police are known for their witty social media posts, but on Wednesday they got egg all over their face by overzealously seeking information from netizens about the ‘best’ places in the city to procure narcotics (a.k.a. ‘drugs’).

The cops’ intentions could not be faulted, seeing how drug- peddling in Bengaluru was thriving even during the recent lockdown. But it was their attempt at wordplay (eg., ‘high time’ as in the ‘high’ experienced by addicts) that had netizens sharpening their digital pens.
The overly clever BCP Facebook post said: “So, tell us at the toll-free number 1908. We’re listening! It’s ‘high’ time we did! Where do you get the best drugs in Bengaluru? Just doing a survey.”
Sure enough, that triggered a barrage of sarcastic replies from Facebook users. Here’s a sampling:
Shivaraj Reddy: “Next to my apartment there is a shop called ‘Venkateswara drugstore’. He gives the best with discounted price also.”
Jeffrey Raymond: “Wise survey would be to ask who is making more money, drug dealers or corrupt cops.”

Souhardh Pranesh Gudur: “Of course, the medical shop near my home. They even have the board ‘Druggists and Chemists since 1900’.”
Vinay Kumar: “By reading comments, I came to know few more places, thank you for this post.”
Rajesh Radhakrishnan: “Lol, I thought the cops knew the best dealers in town!”
One of the wittiest repartees came from Afroz Khan: “I know where it is consumed. Not sure how to report anonymously…”
