BENGALURU:
Saturday, August 15, I-Day, marked a dubious new high in Karnataka’s tryst with the deadly coronavirus. The state recorded a humongous 8,818 fresh cases, its highest in the last six months. Bengaluru too was part of this ‘record’ with 3,495 cases. The deaths statewide were 114, and in Bengaluru 35.
As per the bulletin released by the Karnataka health department, the state now has 82,958 active cases, of which Bengaluru has the highest portion at 34,860.
“The state has also seen 6,629 discharges, and 2,034 in Bengaluru. Karnataka’s discharge rate has now improved to 60.53% while Bengaluru’s has gone up to 58.65%,” said an official.
The mortality rate of the state has also improved to 1.74%, and to 1.59% in Bengaluru.
