BENGALURU:
After a Bengaluru-based techie hailing from Telangana techie tested positive for Covid-19, the Karnataka government has gone into total precautionary mode, with the health department notifying 19 major hospitals to be on high alert.
Special wards have been set up in Rajiv Gandhi Hospital while wards have also been reserved in other government hospitals like KC General Hospital and Jayanagar General Hospital.
A senior health official said five beds in all 19 major hospitals have been reserved for Covid-19 affected patients. This apart, a lab has been setup at Rajiv Gandhi Hospital to check patients’ samples, he added.
The officer added, “Every individual who has arrived at the airport from 11 affected countries is being screened.”
PATIENT’S CONTACTS PLACED UNDER WATCH
Regarding the Telangana youth who had stayed for three days in Bengaluru after his return from Dubai, the health department has got in touch with all those who had come in contact with him and they are being kept under watch.
“The youth was staying in a paying guest facility in Bengaluru, and all his acquaintances in the PG facility and at the workplace have been kept under watch. This is apart from 80 passengers who were on board the bus in which he had traveled to Telangana, who are also being contacted,” the officer added.
