CM says 410, minister says 401, bulletin says 390
BENGALURU:
It seems Karnataka’s politicians and officials are on a different page when it comes to giving Covid-19 case details to the media.
On Sunday, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa had said that the state had 410 Covid-19 positive cases, despite the media bulletin released by the Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Department putting the figure at 388.
Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar tried to cover up for the Chief Minister, saying he had information of 401 positive cases, which was not mentioned in the afternoon bulletin, but would be included in the evening bulletin.
He said these were “dynamic numbers which keep changing every hour and every minute, and we should not be rigid on one particular number given by the Chief Minister.”
“The bulletin would not have had the exact number mentioned by the Chief Minister in a meeting, but that may reflect in the evening bulletin as we have opened many testing centres and it would have taken time to accumulate all the numbers.I have been told that positive cases are 401 in the state and the details will be shared in the evening bulletin,” Sudhakar said.
Evening bulletin adds only two!
However, the evening bulletin did not reflect the figure of 401 positive cases claimed by the minister. It added 2 new cases from Dakshina Kannada, of which one died, for a total of 390.
