Ill health of couple may have contributed to ghastly incident
DAVANAGERE:
After the ghastly incident of four members of a Bengaluru family committing suicide recently (and a baby found dead in the house due to starvation), another morbid incident has been reported from Davanagere, where the head of a family committed suicide after allegedly poisoning his wife and their 8-year-old daughter.
The deceased have been identified as Krishna Naik (43), his wife Saraswatibai (35) and their daughter Dwara (8). The family were residents of Shekharappa Nagar, Davanagere.

Scene of death
The police found Krishna Naik’s body hanging while both mother and daughter were found supine on the floor of the house.
According to sources, Krishna Naik put poison in the food of his wife and child and later hanged himself.
Saraswatibai was suffering from haemorrhoids and Krishna was diagnosed with TB, which may have been factors behind the incident. It is learnt that both Krishna and his wife were truck drivers and had been sick for several days. A case has been filed at the RMC station.
