BENGALURU:
Under pressure to open liquor shops, the state government will take a decision after the Prime Minister’s address to the nation on Tuesday at 10 am.
Making this announcement at a presser on Monday, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa said the government will take an appropriate decision after it receives guidelines for the next fortnight from the Centre.
The state has lost huge revenues due to the lockdown, and many suicides cases have also been reported due to non-availability of liquor.
Yediyurappa said discussions on the sale of liquor through MSIL were held, but a final decision will be announced after April 14.
Sources said the state government was mulling allowing liquor sales through MSIL, a state-run agency which has more than 100 liquor shops in Bengaluru alone. But a final call will be taken after the PM’s address.
