Bengaluru, Dec 9: The Karnataka Government has scheduled a crucial meeting with the Bengaluru Apartment Federation (BAF) on December 13 to discuss the long-pending concerns of apartment residents and review the proposed Karnataka Apartment (Ownership and Management) Bill, 2025. The interaction will be held at Vidhana Soudha’s Banquet Hall between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM, with Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar chairing the session.
According to the official communication issued by the Urban Development Department, the meeting has been arranged following BAF’s recent memorandum seeking urgent reforms, clarity in apartment governance, and a dedicated legal framework for apartment ownership and management. The department has formally invited BAF office-bearers and asked them to mobilise apartment associations across Bengaluru for the interaction.
BAF President Satish Mallya welcomed the government’s response, stating that the Deputy Chief Minister’s willingness to engage directly with apartment owners offers hope that long-standing issues— including regulatory gaps, ownership clarity, welfare provisions, and dispute-resolution mechanisms—will finally move towards resolution.
Earlier, on December 2, BAF held a press conference urging the government to introduce the Apartment Ownership & Management Bill in the ongoing winter session. They also met the Additional Chief Secretary, Tushar Giri Nath, and submitted their detailed representation. The government’s swift decision to organise a dialogue is seen as a positive outcome of that appeal.
