Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has asserted that no amount of criticism will stop the government’s plan to give Bengaluru a new shape through restructuring and reforms.
Speaking to reporters, Shivakumar said, “We have already created five municipal corporations for Bengaluru and announced 368 wards. Another ward may be added soon, and after elections, peripheral areas within corporation limits will also be included, taking the total to nearly 140–150 additional wards.”
He clarified that objections, if any, can be filed and will be considered as per law. “The 74th Constitutional Amendment gives power to the people, and hence elections cannot be stopped. Criticism against me does not matter. I am committed to giving Bengaluru a new identity. Criticism will fade, but developmental work will remain,” he said.
Shivakumar added that the government will soon release a detailed list of programs and projects being implemented for Bengaluru’s infrastructure, urban governance, and ward restructuring.
