Bengaluru: Former Prime Minister and JD(S) national president H.D. Deve Gowda has firmly stated that the party will under no circumstances break its alliance with the NDA. Addressing party leaders and workers after inaugurating the party’s Belli Habba celebrations, Deve Gowda said the JD(S) continues to have full faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
“We are with the NDA. We trust the leadership of Modi. It is a strong and stable government, and our workers and leaders must not forget this,” he said.
Drawing parallels from history, Deve Gowda recalled the era of Emergency and the second freedom struggle led by Jayaprakash Narayan. He noted that during that period, the then Janata Party and BJP leaders worked together for the nation. “Even today, we must stand united for the national interest and defeat the misgovernance of the Congress,” he said.
Reiterating the JD(S) national positioning, Gowda declared:
“JD(U) in the North, JD(S) in the South — Nitish Kumar there, Kumaraswamy here.”
He praised Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, highlighting his long-standing political experience. “Nitish has been in public life for nearly 30 years and has taken oath ten times. He is a leader who studies politics deeply and moves carefully. We must keep all this in mind as we work,” Deve Gowda told party members.
